So in some crazy path of blogdom, I ran across this post.  And although I  do not read this blog and have no desire to win the contest, I thought the idea was a great one.

The contest is to post a picture and “why I felt great here.” A great idea to focus on when life was really good no matter what I looked like at the time.

I took it a little more literal than I probably should have. But this is a picture that always brings me joy. I always feel great here, or when I think about here.

We love Asheville. And we have a certain bed and breakfast we love in Asheville – the innkeepers, the suites, the breakfast – everything is amazing there. Including their patio and their rocking chairs and the view. We’ve spent hours in these chairs reading local brochures, newspapers, magazines, working sodoku puzzles. Probably my favorite place in the world that I’ve seen so far. I feel at home here – not like I’m on vacation. I can let all my worries go and just enjoy being here with Nathan, with either a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in my hand. I feel happy here, and I feel happy when I just think about here.

But a time when I felt the best ever?

My favorite picture from my favorite day. This is the day my life really started. And I had no idea the happiness that would follow as a result. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the life we would create. When I look at this picture, I don’t think about my flabby arms or how I was afraid my grass skirt wouldn’t tie around me or how much I hated my back fat. I see this and I am unbelievably happy. Because I was incredibly happy that day, and because that was the day that incredible happiness started.

Okay, now I’m off to give Nate a giant hug. After today’s eats.
