Here are our 5 top tips and tricks for modeling fondant figures and cake toppers.

You can make them months in advance 1 - Mix your fondant with some gumtex powder or tylose powder. It will be much stronger 2 - prepare a container that eliminates sunlight to put your figurines in. Plan ahead if you need something to hold your figurine upright 3 - I do NOT use an airtight container.

You can certainly make figures just from fondant icing, but sometimes for more intricate or larger models you may need a product that sets a little harder. One option is to mix together fondant and flower paste in a 50/50 mix.

No need to freeze the fondant figures. You can make them well in advance and just store them in a cardboard box until you need them. You can use piping gel under the fondant so it will stick.

Can I use Marshmallow Fondant to make figurines? You can use marshmallow fondant, however it is a very soft fondant and will sag and may not hold the shape very well so it really is not a great fondant for making figurines but I guess it depends upon what you are making.
