Let’s jump into the recipe. Before we get baking, go ahead and preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 177 degrees Celsius. This recipe can easily be scaled up to accommodate any size dog and however many treats you want. To start, we’ll need one cup of spent grains from a brew day.

Press down and make it so that it’s an even thickness – don’t make them too thick! Either use a cookie cutter to make shapes if you are creative or, take a knife and cut them into squares. Spread them evenly over the baking sheet and bake for about 30 min at 350 F to solidify them.

In the bowl of your mixer, use the paddle attachment and mix together the spent grains, flour, eggs and either the cranberries, pumpkin or peanut butter until combined. The dough should resemble thick cookie dough ; if it seems too sticky add a little more flour.

Ingredients (for about 30 dog treats): 2 cups spent grain; 1 cup flour; 1/2 cup peanut butter; 1 egg; Directions: Use your spent grains as soon as possible after brew day. If making the treats after brew day, collect the leftover grains and either refrigerate or freeze them to avoid mold. When you’re ready to cook, preheat the oven to 350F.

Yes, you can use canned biscuits after their expiration or best buy date. They actually keep a long time. I have had one pop itself open though, so be cautious to that happening. I volunteer at a food bank, and we had a pallet of expired biscuits/crescent rolls. Some did open, so we tossed them.
