Add the chicken, potatoes and carrots to the thickened gravy and heat until bubbling. Drop quartered, canned biscuits coated in egg or homemade dumpling dough on top of the bubbling stew; reduce the heat to a simmer, cover the pot and cook for about 15 minutes.

Drop strips, one at a time, into boiling chicken mixture. Add carrots and celery. Reduce heat to low. Cover; simmer 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent dumplings from sticking.

Try to drop each new piece into an open spot in your water. Stir occasionally during this process and at the end to separate biscuit pieces. Let boil for a few minutes then add soup, butter, and seasonings. Stir until soup is dissolved.

Drop these pieces into some flour to just coat. Then drop each piece into the boiling water that you boiled the chicken in. Let these boil, you can turn the heat down to medium or medium high so it’s not a hard boil. Go ahead and add about 1/4 stick (give or take) of butter to the pot.

canned biscuits – use either two cans of regular biscuits or one large of Pillsbury Grands. pepper – good old black pepper is all you need. It doesn’t take special equipment to make these quick and easy chicken and dumplings – a nice large pot will do the trick.
